DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE
INTRODUCTION
The Department of Emergency (SBO) is the highest level of the primary health care tier. This is suitable for the instant care of all specialties, and the stabilization of patients' condition through the recognition and treatment of life-threatening medical conditions. The department is a regional centre in Hungary.
Clinical research at the department is planned to be started in September 2019. The main research themes are early detection of sepsis, optimization of stroke care and crisis resource management.
The head of the department has previously organized a multicentre study in the field of sepsis. The department is planning to participate in a European study on the use of a new viscoelastic coagulometer in emergency care.
Non-specific cases account for almost all of the department's patients, so there are no profiles for emergency care.
We have gathered lot of experience in the care of seriously injured and stroke patients. Our experience does not define a profile, but rather influences the quality and speed of care. We treat 100-120 patients daily which is a very high case number at national level. We provide complex emergency care which is the combination of traumatology and non-traumatology cases. This distinguishes our department from most departments of emergency where these functions are separate.
The experiences gained during our integrative patient care (examinations and consultations organized around the patient) also add significant value to the operation of the department.
